Engineering symbols glossary

Every symbol the MechanixCalc calculators print — what it is called, what it means, its SI and Imperial units, and the tools that use it. Engineering standards reuse letters: the same symbol can mean a speed in one tool and an exponent in another, so those are listed first. Each tool's field help (the ⓘ next to an input) links here.

Same symbol, different meaning (38)

Read the label and the unit next to the field, not the letter alone. Where two meanings would sit on the same tool, the on-screen label carries a subscript to tell them apart (no calculation changes).

Subscripts added where both meanings share a screen
