Your engineering calculators, inside CAD.

The MechanixCalc Copilot for Fusion 360 reads the geometry you select, asks for the loads CAD can’t know, and runs every number through the same validated engines behind the 50 calculators.

Invite-based · included with Expert · numbers-only. Inventor & SolidWorks next.

MechanixCalc Copilot
Will the Ø80 pin bracket hold a 12 kN side load in service?
Ctrl-click the two pin faces and the bore, then tell me — I’ll read the geometry.
▸ read_selection · 3 faces · Ø80.0 / L 46.0 mm
Got it. Is the 12 kN steady, or is there shock/reversal? And what’s the bush material?
Steady, bronze bush, C93200.
▸ call_engine · bearings · projected-area contact
PASSBushing contact pressure within limit
Contact pressure22.61 MPaAllowable (C93200)25.0 MPaSafety factor1.11×

Thin margin — a 15% load rise would exceed it. Widen the boss or step to a harder bush to recover reserve. Branded PDF ready.

Ask about a fit, a fatigue life, a bolt pattern…
The loop

From a selected face to a standards-cited verdict.

The Copilot never guesses a number. It reads what the model can tell it, asks you for the rest, and runs the validated engine — the same one behind the website.

01 · read

Reads your selection

Faces, edges, parameters and mass properties — as numbers. Guided selection tells you exactly what to click.

02 · ask

Asks for the loads

CAD can't know duty, forces, pressures or safety requirements. The Copilot asks, one clear question at a time.

03 · compute

Runs the real engine

Every stress, life and safety factor comes from the validated MechanixCalc engine, server-side — never invented.

04 · verdict

Returns an honest answer

Pass / review / fail with the governing safety factor, the warnings, the standard — and a branded PDF report.

What it can do

One assistant, 50 calculators, the whole mechanism.

Picks the right engine

Describe a mechanism — a rack-and-pinion lift, a vacuum pick-and-place, a linear-guide stage — and it plans the engine chain and the inputs to gather.

Chains a full workflow

Load builder → drive torque → motor inertia → bearing life, carried across engines so the whole assembly is sized in one conversation.

Never softens a fail

Conservative, standards-grade results. A failing safety factor is stated plainly, with the concrete fix — bigger bore, harder bush, different material.

Reads geometry & parameters

Cylindrical faces, User Parameters, mass & inertia, measured distances — pulled straight from the active design so you don't retype.

Hands off a PDF report

Every answer can become a branded engineering report with the worked method and the sketch — ready for design review.

Logs what it can't do

Hit a gap it doesn't cover and it says so, records the need, and points you at the nearest engine or a manual path — no bluffing.

Your data

Numbers leave your machine. Your model doesn’t.

Trust is the product. The Copilot is built so only the parametric numbers it needs ever cross the wire — never your CAD file, geometry export, or design intent.

Data minimisation, by contract.

Only the parametric numbers a calculation needs — radii, distances, masses, the loads you type — are sent. The tool contracts are the enforcement surface, not a promise.

Your file never uploads.

No STEP, no native file, no geometry export, no screenshot. The model stays in Fusion on your computer.

Purpose-limited, never used for training.

Your inputs run your calculation and return your result — nothing else. They are not used to train models.

Your key, your control.

Access is tied to your personal Expert key. Data-processing terms and your data-subject rights (access, export, deletion) are set out in the Privacy Policy.

How early access works

  1. 01  Be on a MechanixCalc Expert plan
  2. 02  Request access below — we onboard invited engineers in batches
  3. 03  We send you the Fusion add-in and your setup steps by email
  4. 04  Install it, sign in with your personal key, and ask your first question

Invite-based while we scale it carefully. Public self-serve download to follow.

◆ Early access ahead of public release

Included with Expert

The Copilot comes with your Expert seat — no separate subscription, no per-message charge.

  • • A fair-use allowance, sized for everyday design work
  • • Remaining balance shown live in the panel
  • • Fair-use, not a metering product — heavy automation isn’t the target
  • • Need more? Talk to us about a higher allowance.
Questions

Before you install.

Does my CAD file get uploaded?

No. Only the parametric numbers the Copilot reads from your selection or you type — radii, distances, masses, the loads — are sent to run the engines. Your native file, geometry export and screenshots stay in Fusion on your machine.

Which CAD does it support today?

Autodesk Fusion 360, in invite-based early access. Inventor and SolidWorks add-ins are planned next — the validated engines and the numbers-only contract are shared across them.

Are the numbers trustworthy?

Every stress, life and safety factor comes from the same validated, standards-cited engines behind the MechanixCalc website — computed server-side, conservative by design, never invented by the model. A failing result is stated plainly with the governing safety factor and the standard.

What does it cost?

Nothing extra — the Copilot is included with your Expert seat under a fair-use allowance shown live in the panel. There is no separate Copilot subscription and no per-message charge.

How do I get access?

Early access is invite-based while we scale it carefully. Request access with your Expert account and we onboard invited engineers in batches, then send the add-in and setup steps by email.

Is my data used to train models?

No. Your inputs are used to run your calculation and return your result — nothing else. The data-processing terms and your data-subject rights (access, export, deletion) are set out in the Privacy Policy.
